Presenting to the Client After Proposal Submittal-Part One
This article is directed at those who have already submitted their proposal and have been invited to make a presentation to a selection panel. If your client has required you to make your actual proposal in person, many of these tips will help, but you must address other needs as well. We'll talk about those kinds of presentations in a future article.

In the beginning, you tell 'em what you're going to tell 'em.
How you begin your presentation is critical. In fact, the introduction is the most important part of your presentation (it beats the conclusion out by a hair). Why? Because it's your only chance to make a first impression. You can show the client you are enthusiastic and excited about the project, or you can show that this is just another dreaded part of the job (like writing proposals)

First and foremost a presentation must be interesting if it is to keep the attention of the jury. You will never read this requirement in a Request For Proposals but, it is nonetheless an absolute (if unspoken) rule of every selection.

There is not much tolerance in the consultant selection process for the avant-garde dresser or unusual personal behavior. "Dress and behave like the selection committee" is safe advise. You want to be remembered for what you said, you don't want to be remembered for what you wore (or didn't wear)
